It's important to invest in efforts to support animal welfare that include spay/neuter, community outreach, and education.
Canine Threads proudly supports local rescue and education groups with cash donations and a special focus on spay/neuter programs.
The foster puppies gotta eat! Food can be one of the largest expenses for a foster like myself that takes large litters. 10 - 15 hungry puppies can easily eat $60 a week worth of food!
Canine Threads proudly supports animals in Susan's care as well as stocking up other foster families in times of need.
There is nothing cheap about medical care. Add the fact that many dogs coming through the shelter system are neglected with a wealth of medical needs and bills pile up.
Canine Threads proudly supports animals in need by sponsoring up to 3K yearly in medical bills.

(My record keeping was not so great - enjoy this first photo of my first ever fosters, Peach and Daisy.)
In 2017, I took in my first rescue dog. In the beginning, it was about capturing those adorable moments with the most accessible equipment, the iphone. I spent countless hours taking 1000s of photos with natural light learning best practices for composition, catching the moment, and getting that perfect head tilt. Over time, the limitations of phone photography prevented the details and pop from really coming out. I dusted off some old photography equipment and brought in some new tricks and learned ways to manage studio light. I consider creative endeavors a lifelong learning exercise. I get better with every session and every dog and always look forward the new challenges.
During my time fostering dogs, I've learned a LOT about the realities of the shelter dog in North Carolina. It's easy to see the problems, but hard to do something about it.
Canine Threads is how I'm using my creative side to connect with and reach people in a new way. The point is to open conversations, encourage new advocates, and help people understand the realities of the system so they too can make a difference.
Along the way, money raised will help groups that are actively working towards solutions. Donations are split between foster programs that supports the day to day work of saving animals that need us today. Other funds are used to support programs to solve the bigger picture problem like spay/neuter and education programs.
Currently, Canine Threads is a one woman show and that woman focuses on it between a job, foster puppies, and family.
I'm committed and absolutely here for you and the dogs.
The reality is, as much as I LOVE this work and as important as it, it is a part-time endeavor. I humbly ask that you're patient with me. I'm here and I will get to every email and every conversation request, but it may take a little longer than it feels like it should.
Never hesitate to say hello. I love this community and I love spending time with others that do too. We'll squeeze it in, promise!
